Issue/Introduction

Altiris Base Task Handlers sub agent is still showing up after upgrading to 8.1. This sub agent was merged in to the Altiris Client Task Agent and should no longer be listed.

Agent is out of date.

Environment

ITMS 8.1 

Cause

The registries for this agent were not properly removed during upgrade.

Resolution

This can be fixed by running the following script on the 8.1 clients that are reporting inventory for this sub agent:

REG DELETE "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Plugin Objects\Agents\BaseTaskHandlersAgent" /va /f

Steps to implement using a script Task:

1. Create a new task under Jobs and Tasks in the console.
2. From the list on the left, choose Run Script near the bottom of the tree list.
3. Provide a name, such as "Remove old Agent reference".
4. Paste the above script line into the body of the script.
5. Other default settings should be fine in most environments.
6. Click OK to save the task.
7. Schedule the tasks against those systems experiencing this issue to resolve it.
