Cause for variation in control center startup times

Issue/Introduction

Significant variation is seen in startup times for the the control center web interface. Startup times may vary from thirty seconds to as long as fifteen minutes.

Cause

As part of the Control Center web application process startup, the control center attempts to connect to all scanners and to Symantec before allowing admin login. In some environments, these network connections take a significant amount of time to either complete or fail in a way that allows the control center web application to start. This can significantly delay the startup of the control center web application.

Resolution

Delays in control center web application startup times have been significantly reduced with the SMG 10.6.4 release.
