Issue/Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection for Linux client fails to check in with the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM), and server status shows Offline. The SEPM only shows partial information for the client and its status is Offline.

"GetCommand 404 OpenFailed: Error (2) while opening the Command file"

Environment

SEP for Linux clients communicating with remote SEPM server which uses a SQL database.

Cause

This problem occurs when a command file is missing on the SEPM.

The client cannot download that command file, so the heartbeat does not continue on the client side.

Resolution

You can work around this problem by deleting the command file entries in the database. If the command needs to be reissued at that point, you can manually deploy the command.
