Issue/Introduction

File Explorer hangs on Windows 10 with Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition cloud (SEP SBE) installed.

Environment

Windows 10 (all versions)

Cause

Quick Access is enabled by default on Windows 10, indexing files with active scanning antivirus causes a conflict.

Resolution

Disable Quick Access. Follow the steps below:

1. Open File Explorer
2. Click View tab in Ribbon
3. Click Options
4. Change the option "Open File Explorer to" from "Quick access" to "This PC" using drop-down list.
5. Click Apply and OK
