Windows Security Patch caused the Altiris Services to lose the memory of the service account password

Issue/Introduction

After installing the latest Windows Security patch and rebooting the server, the following services will not start:

 

Altiris Deployment Server DB Management Service

Altiris eXpress Server Service

Environment

Windows Server 2008 R2

March, 2017 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4012215)

 

Cause

In some situations, it was found the latest Windows Security Patch caused the Altiris Services to lose the memory of the service password.

Resolution

1) Open the service properties and retype the password.

2) Start the Altiris services.
