Boot up time increased after installing Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) with Location Switching enabled. Analysis determines slow boot up is the result of dropped network traffic. Review of SEP Traffic log or SEP Packet log shows SEP is blocking the traffic. Further review shows SEP is slow to switch to a location with a firewall policy which allows the traffic. The location which allows the traffic contains the Management Server Connection criteria.
SEP 14.0 or earlier.
SEP Client component required for communication with Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) may not finish loading until after the location criteria is checked causing the Management Server Connection condition to fail.
This problem is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 14 MP1. For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read ‘Download the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection’
