Red Hat Updates not listed in PRC

Patch Management Solution for Linux


Unable to distribute Red Hat updates through the Patch Remediation Center (PRC); required Red Hat updates are not listed.

Executed the Import Patch Data for Red Hat and found it failed with errors trying to import Channels from Red Hat Network (RHN).

Channel import failed, check Altiris Log for detailed information.

Please check that RHN licenses and credentials ara valid. There is nothing to import

Patch Management 8.x


Red Hat certificate chain added by RHN; results in restricting communications from SMP Server to RHN.


This issue will be resolved in ITMS 8.1.

The following resolution may be implemented in ITMS 8.0.x:

  1. Implement the attached RedHatEntitlementOperations certificate via the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) UI with Certificates Snap-in.
    • Command line: certutil -addstore -f CA RedhatEntitlementOperations.cer

Additionaly workaround if needed:

  1. Open RegEdit on the SMP Server; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Altiris\Patch Management
  2. Select Patch Management; rightclick in the right-pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value 
  3. Right-click > Modify Name: IgnoreCertificateCheck
  4. Modify > set Value data: 1 (hex or dec)
  5. Close RegEdit
  6. Open the Console > Manage > Jobs and Tasks > System Jobs and Tasks > Software > Patch Management > Import Patch Data for Red Hat; configure to run on the next desired scheduled time or Now
