Cannot run MP update after reinstalling Ghost Solution Suite Server 3.1

You have uninstalled and reinstalled Ghost Solution Suite 3.1 from your server and now you cannot reinstall the MP update. 

When you run the MP you can only "Repair" the existing install. Repair does not install the update.


Reinstalling the same MP that was previously installed, Ghost 3.1 only.


The registry key that indicates that the update is installed needs to be removed.


If you were attempting to install a version other than the most current version, please download the most recent update and install it. This problem will only happen if you are attempting to reinstall the same version that was uninstalled, if there is a newer version available it should install without difficulty and will include all the previous updates.

Identify which MP you are attempting to install. (MP5 for example)

Log in to the Ghost Soution Suite server as an administrator

Run Regedit

Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products

Click Find, type in the "MP" number, for example, "MP5". You should find the key with:

Product Name = "Symantec Ghost Soution Suite MP5". It will look like this:

Delete the entire product key you see listed on the left side, in this case "0B897C7..."

Here is an example from Ghost Solution Suite 3.2 RU3

For Ghost 3.2 RU 3 delete the entire key "513CC..."

The installer should work properly now.
