Issue/Introduction
When launching Control Compliance Suite (CCS) Policy Central Web Portal an error is displayed, "An error occurred while performing the operation. Contact the Web Administrator for details."
Resolution
To launch Policy Central, HTTP must be activated for .NET Framework 4.5. HTTP Activation supports process activation by using HTTP. Applications that use HTTP Activation can start and stop dynamically in response to work items transmitted over the network by using HTTP. With HTTP, the application and the computers with which it communicates need to be online to pass active communications back and forth without the need for queuing requests.
Click Start. Point to Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager. In the Features section of the Server Manager home page, click Add features.
On the Select Features page of the Add Features Wizard, expand .NET Framework 4.5 features.
Expand WCF Services and then select HTTP Activation.
Click Next, and then click Install.
When installation is complete, close the wizard.
Restart IIS, now Policy Central should be accessible without any errors.
