Issue/Introduction

Received msg DB00308I - LOG AREA IS 100%, 597 tracks spillable

cics transactions hung up  we had to run a spill job to clear.

Why is it happening with CA Datacom/DB 14.0 and we never had to execute a Spill in 12.0?

Environment

z/os 2.1, CA Datacom/DB 12.0

Resolution

Both Multi-User environments must have different startup parameter LOGRCV value.

Datacom/DB startup Multi-user LOGRCV can be set to YES, NO or NEVER.

NEVER means you have no recovery file and so you will never have to Spill your LXX to the recovery file (RXX).

YES means that you have a dedicated RXX attached to the Multi-User. It specifies active Recovery File. A dedicated tape drive is used for the Recovery File.

NO means that you will have to Spill LXX to RXX depending on the LOGSPILL percent. It specifies inactive Recovery File. This is the recommended option.
