Issue/Introduction

When connecting to {VIP.EN_US} authentication service, you may receive the following error message:

 

The request was aborted. Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

Cause

This error occurs when one of the following condtions are true:

  • VIP certificate is expired
  • Incorrect password is set on the .pfx or .p12 file

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure the {VIP.EN_US} certificate is valid and the password set on the .pfx or .p12 file matches the one set in the API call.

For instructions how to renew a VIP certificate:

 

  1. Log-in to https://manager.vip.symantec.com/vipmgr/signin.v
  2. In the upper right hand corner, click Help and Support
  3. In the Manage VIP certificates menu, select Requesting a Certificate and Downloading the VIP certificate or Using Your Own Private Key to Request a Certificate
