Issue/Introduction

Console Administrators created in pre-9.8 versions of VIP Enterprise Gateway using the Password tool cannot log into the VIP EG console after importing the Administrator to version 9.8. 

Cause

This is caused by a missing configuration file (console_realm.properties) in the exported configuration.

Resolution

1. Locate the <VIP_EG_INSTALL_DIR>/conf/console_realm.properties on previous VIP EG installation.
2. On the VIP EG 9.8 EG Server, stop the VIP Enterprise Gateway service.
3. Open the previous console_realm.properties file (from step 1) with a text editor (such as Notepad). Highlight and copy the administrators created with the PasswordTool. 
   Example:

admin1: /EVR30UPndAmM6qnwYMvytrSZuc=,server-administrator
admin2: lcHETkZ2dOHWYtzLrEjIVR0sJpQ=,server-administrator 
    
4. Open the current console_realm.properties on the VIP EG 9.8 installation with a text editor (such as Notepad), then paste in the data copied from from step 3. 
   Example:
   vipeg98admin: sopgQzHz0OupyxJPfbvzyG2vgl4=,server-administrator
admin1: /EVR30UPndAmM6qnwYMvytrSZuc=,server-administrator
admin2: lcHETkZ2dOHWYtzLrEjIVR0sJpQ=,server-administrator
    
5. Start the VIP Enterprise Gateway service.
