Error “Error 19285 check the certs and the parameters passed to the newInstance method” when trying to authenticate through Symantec Validation and ID Protection Enterprise Gateway

Issue/Introduction

The customer is receiving the following error when trying to authenticate through Symantec Validation and ID Protection Enterprise Gateway:

ERROR "2012-03-15 07:54:43.038 GMT-0500" xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ValidationEngine 0 19285 "text=[VSWebServiceClient] SSL Error. Please check the certs and the parameters passed to the newInstance method, user=username, bizCont=off" Thread-3424 VSValidationEngine.c

Cause

The cause of this error is that the customer’s network is not able to connect to the Symantec’s back end for Symantec Validation and ID Protection.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please allow the IP Address ranges that are listed in knowledge base solution SO10202.

Please note that Symantec strongly recommends you do not use the IP addresses but use the host names.
