Symantec VIP - Installation of MS Credential Provider plugin does not go further when asked to select Configuration File

Issue/Introduction

When trying to install the VIP Microsoft Credential Provider (MCP) Plug-in on Windows Server. During the installation, attempts to click the browse button to select the configuration file will not work; No window appears to browse for the 'CPConfig.txt' file and installation will not proceed.

Cause

Prerequisite software requirement is not met.

 

Resolution

Install the Microsoft Visual C++ requirements before installing the Plug-in.

Software Requirements
• Visual C++ 2022 x86 Redistributable (for 32 bit operating system)
• Visual C++ 2022 x64 Redistributable (for 64 bit operating system)

Note:-> If MCP Plugin version 1.3 is used then VC++ 2012 Redistributable will still be required to fix the issue.
