Issue/Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) SONAR status: Component is Malfunctioning in the SEP GUI

 

SONAR status: Component is Malfunctioning

Error in the System logs:

Error    SONAR has generated an error: code 0: description: Definition Failure    Symantec Endpoint Protection   "SONAR has generated an error: code 0: description: Definition Failure"
 

Environment

Windows Server 2003 with Dell Application Open Manage installed

The issue happens only on Windows 2003

Cause

Incompatibility between the product Open Manage of Dell on Windows 2003 and the update of the SMR Definitions of SEP

Resolution

To workaround:

Add the following dependencies to the SEPMasterService so they will start after our services starts:

DSM SA Data Manager

DSM SA Event Manager

DSM SA Shared Services
