Cannot configure all LiveUpdate options on unmanaged SEP 14.x Linux clients.

Issue/Introduction

After installing unmanaged Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 14.x clients on systems running on Linux, there is no option to modify the LiveUpdate configuration, aside from scheduling. For example, it is not possible to:

• Configure the client to use an internal LiveUpdate server rather than the public LiveUpdate server.
• Modify the client's proxy configuration for LiveUpdate.

Environment

SEP 14.x running on any Linux distribution as an unmanaged client.

Cause

Due to changes made to LiveUpdate in SEP 14.0, it is currently not possible to modify these settings on an unmanaged Linux client.
 

Resolution

The product is working as designed.

If these options need to be modified for Linux clients in your environment, it is recommended that managed clients be used instead. These options can be managed by policies on a Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.
