Issue/Introduction

When connecting to the Stand-alone Portal it fails to open and error is shown.
The target principal name is incorrect.  Cannot generate SSPI context

The target principal name is incorrect.  Cannot generate SSPI context

Environment

Server 2012 R2
IT Analytic Stand-alone versions.

Cause

Application pool identity is unable to authenticate.
Account used for application pool is locked out.

Resolution

1. Log onto the Server and open IIS manager
2. Navigate to the application pool hosting the Web application throwing the error
3. Change or Update the application pool identity
4. Restart IIS
