Issue/Introduction

 

After configuring Symantec Protection Engine 7.8 to generate SNMP notifications the SNMP Listener either drops the packet as malformed or displays an eight octet IPv4 address ending with 0.0.0.0.

Example: 192.168.20.50.0.0.0.0

 

Environment

 

Testing has shown this issue only impacts installations of Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) 7.8 on supported Linux platforms.  This issue does not affect Windows based installations.

Cause

 

 

Resolution

 

Symantec has identified the cause of the issue.  The issue is scheduled to be resolved in Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) 7.8.1.
