Select Assets or standards menu on CCS Console gives error message as Failed to retrieve data

Issue/Introduction

CCS Console installed on Application server works without any issue. However, on Remote CCS Console, while accessing Assets or Standards Menu from Manage throws an error message -

ERROR:

Failed to retrieve data.

This may occured due to any of the following reasons:
1. CCS Application Server is not running or responding.
2. CCS Directory service is not running or responding.
3. Connection to the database server could not be established.
4. You may not have access to one or more of the above services.

 

Below ports are open:

CCS Console

Symantec Directory Support Service

12467

Required by the CCS Console to communicate with the Symantec Directory Support Service.

Symantec Encryption Management Service

12468

Required by the CCS Console to communicate with the Symantec Encryption Management Service

LDAP

3890

Required by the Application Server to connect to the Symantec ADAM/ADLDS instance.

SSL

6360

Required by the CCS Console for Secured Communication with the Directory Service.

Symantec Application Server Service

1431

Required by the CCS Console to communicate with the Application Server.

1. Access Manage -> Assets

2. Access Manage -> Standards

Cause

Port 139 and Port 445 are blocked in between CCS Application Server and Remote CCS Console.

Generally, above ports remain open in most of the environments however due to hardening or strict security policies applied ports may not be open state.

Below is the list of ports that should remain open within the domain environment where CCS Components are residing.

Note:

You must use a port in the range from 1024 to 65535 for all other Control Compliance Suite 11.0 components.

Resolution

Opened ports 139 and 445 from Remote CCS Console to CCS Application Server.
