Software Management Solution

Issue/Introduction

Some Managed Software Delivery (MSD) policies no longer appear in the Software Delivery tab of the agent. Also the Agent logs show warnings regarding the problem MSD policies:

Errors detected during loading tasks. Considerate policy as corrupted and do not process it until policy update occurred.

Cause

In one situation this occurred after changing the NS name in DNS and then redirecting the agents to the new name using AeXAgentUtil.exe

Resolution

To fix the problem from the console make any change to the MSD policies such as disabling them and then enabling them again, once agents update configuration the policies should no longer be corrupted.

To fix the problem on individual client machines:

  1. Open regedit and then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\SMFAgent\Delivery\Policies\ and delete all the GUID keys there.
  2. Open Windows Explorer then go to C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Client Policies and delete all the XML files there.
  3. Open Services and restart the Symantec Management Agent service.
