PMImport fails to download current Software Bulletins

Patch Management Solution for Windows


Ran the Import Patch Data for Windows (PMImport); found that the Patch Remediation Center (PRC) does not list the current month's released Software Bulletins.

Confirmed no errors listed in the Log Viewer, nor in the policy's run history, for the Console displays: Completed Successfully, and it the current version of PMImport is listed.

Drilled down to the directory: InstallDir:\Program Files\Altiris\Patch Management\Import; confirmed the following folders missing:

  • PMImport_English
  • PMImport_Invariant


Patch Management 7.5.x, 7.6.x and 8.0.x


Confirmed missing culture caused disconnect during the PMImport to the database for language associations to be built and download the needed xml files and build the sub folders under InstallDir:\Program Files\Altiris\Patch Management\Import


Worked through the following to resolve this issue:

  1. RDP to the SMP with Application Identity Credentials (Symantec Service Account)
  2. Open CMD with ‘Run as Admin’
  3. Execute the following: "InstallDir:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin\AeXConfig.exe" /configure "InstallDir:\Program Files\Altiris\Resource\ResourceMgmt.config"
  4. Run 2 config CMDs for Patch as outlined on HOWTO47868
  5. Open PMImport Policy:
    • Enable the desired Languages
    • Run the Update on the Vendor and Software segment to refresh languages
    • Execute the PMImport with the Incremental Import, Delete… and General settings disabled

Confirmed missing culture folders were generated and the PRC displayed current Software Bulletins.
