"Failure in post processing" error message at LiveUpdate command line in SEP (Symantec Endpoint Protection) for Linux

"Failure in post processing" error message at LiveUpdate command line in SEP for Linux:

sav liveupdate -u

Environment

Linux

Cause

Various possible causes.

Resolution

If this error appears immediately after LiveUpdate command, most likely cause is leftover lulock.dat file and tmp* folders within /opt/Symantec/virusdefs/ from a previously aborted or crashed LiveUpdate session. Remove lulock.dat and tmp* folders and retry LiveUpdate. It may also be necessary to remove and rebuild the virus definitions.

If error occurs after a wait, and perhaps some percentage progress reports, see SEP for Linux LiveUpdate fails due to RAM or disk space allocation errors. That article will also provide debugging instructions that can be used to find other causes.
