Unable to open Manage and Softwares page in the Management Platform console.

Issue/Introduction

Open the Symantec Management Console and click on Manage and select the Softwares page, the view does not load as per the product design.

However the following pages open properly.

Manage > Computers

Manage > Jobs / Tasks

Manage > Policies

Manage > Software Catalog

Resolution

Review the Menu configuration and make sure the settings match with the following picture, especially: Show single page view and the URL: /Altiris/ActivityCenter/Default.aspx?viewGuid=0b9ae490-217c-48df-8f7f-2cda1cdd2a00

  1. In the Symantec Management Console. Go to Settings/All Settings/Notification Server/Console Settings/Menus;
  2. Select Manage/Software;

If the problem remains, perform the following steps.

  1. Go to \Program files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris locaiton.
  2. Find the altiris_activitycenter_8_0_x64.msi file. Right click and select Uninstall.
  3. Once that is complete, Open a command prompt in the administrative mode and type the following command (without quotes) 'msiexec /i altiris_activitycenter_8_0_x64.msi skipaim=1.
  4. Hit enter and the MSI should reinstall.
  5. Wait for a minute or two, once the MSI completes, for the database to finish updating.
  6. Next open up an administrative command prompt and run 'iisreset'.
  7. Check whether the Manage > Software page is opening properly.
  8. In case the issue persists run a repair of the 'altiris_activitycenter_8_0_hf3_x64.msi' file as well using the command prompt as mentioned in step-3.
