Issue/Introduction

When attempting to open any pages that use the Activity Center framework the page throws an error similar to the following (excerpt):

Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Stack Trace:

Environment

Symantec Management Platform 7,6, 8.0

Cause

Unknown corruption in the Activity Center framework. Possible cause was improper server shutdown or server crash.

Resolution

Perform the following steps:

1. On the SMP server browse to “.\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris”

 

2. Find the latest msi that was used to install Activity Center. Example:       altiris_activitycenter_8_0_x64.msi

3. Right click on the msi file and select the option to “Uninstall”

4. After AC is uninstalled open a command prompt on the SMP server (administrative if UAC is enabled), and CD into the same folder

       Example:“E:\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris”

5. Using the same file that was used to uninstall Activity Center install AC again:

       Msiexec /I altiris_activitycenter_8_0_x64.msi skipaim=1
