Issue/Introduction

Windows says "Your version of Norton Internet Security is incompatible with this version of Windows." After upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Version 1607) with Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition Cloud installed.

We've turned on Windows Defender

Your version of Norton Internet Security is incompatible with this version of Windows.  Do you want to keep using Windows Defender, or update Norton Internet Security?

Cause

This affects users moving from an older version of Windows 10 directly to Windows 10 Anniversary Update.  This only should be seen by users who upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 (10.0.10240) via the refresh, and who are now upgrading to Win 10 (10.0.14393).  Users who never upgraded via the refresh, or who are upgrading from (10.0.10586) will not see this issue.

Resolution

If the machine has already updated from an older version of Windows 10 and you have received this message you will need to uninstall and reinstall the SEP SBE Cloud client.  Updating Windows 10 machines to 10.0.10586 prior to upgrading to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update will stop this from occurring in additional computers.
