Issue/Introduction

On a newly installed Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM), after logging into the console when clicking on any reporting aspects of the console it will timeout and display the error:  "This page can't be displayed".

  • After login to the manager you see "This page can't be displayed"
  • In the reporting logs you will see similar error:

PHP Fatal error:  Maximum execution time of 2700 seconds exceeded in C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Php\Include\Resources\session.php

Cause

In some customer environments, where firewall/proxy devices exist that filter or block outbound traffic the function cURL will be waiting for the HTTP response which can cause the Php-CGI to hang and results in the HomePage not loading successfully.  Other pages are not loaded as well because the Php-CGI is hung and cannot service those requests.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 14 MP1. For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read Download the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection.

To work around this issue configure the HTTP Proxy settings for every manager experiencing this issue using the following steps:

  1. Click on Admin tab
  2. Click on Servers
  3. In upper left click and expand Servers>Local Site
  4. Find the appropriate server name and Edit the server properties
  5. In the new window that opens click on the Proxy Server tab
  6. Edit and configure the appropriate HTTP Proxy Settings for the environment
