How to upgrade DCS:S from v6.6 to v6.6 MP1

Step 1: Upgrading UMC

  1. Log on to UMC and go to Settings > LiveUpdate.
  2. On the Install page, select the LiveUpdate server or the LiveUpdate Administrator and click Check for Updates.

If you are using LiveUpdate Administrator, you must first configure the LiveUpdate Administrator to use with UMC:

  •             Add product Symantec Data Center Security: Unified Management Console and version 6.6 in the LiveUpdate Administrator.
  •             Add the LiveUpdate Administrator details in UMC LiveUpdate Server settings.

      3. On the Available LiveUpdate box, click Download.Wait for the downloads to complete.

  1. On the Install page, select the hotfix update and click Install.
  2. After the hotfix update is installed, select the v6.6 MP1 update and click Install.

Wait for approximately 20 minutes for the installation to complete. After the installation is complete, refresh the page to access the updated UMC.

  1. Verify the status of the updates. For a successful installation, the status of the update is Installed.

If the status is Failed, retry the upgrade process. You can also download and see the detailed UMC logs from the Monitor > Log Management page of UMC.

 

Step 2: Upgrading the management server

  1. Back up the management server database.

  2. Administrative privilege in UMC to unregister the management server.

    • Log on to UMC and go to Settings > Product Setup.
    • On the Server pane, click Unregister.
  3. The v6.6 MP1 management server setup file: server.exe. You can find the setup file in the v6.6 MP1 disc.

  4. Register the management server with UMC.

  5. After the registration is successful, the Settings > Product Setup page of UMC displays the version of the management server as 6.6.1 and the status as Configured.

 

Step 3: Upgrading the Java console

Click the v6.6 MP1 Console.exe file and follow the instructions to install the Java console v6.6 MP1.

 

Step 4: Upgrading the Operations Director

  1. Log on to UMC and select Operations Director, and click Settings.
  2. On the Install page, select the LiveUpdate server and click Check for Updates.
  3. On the Available LiveUpdate box, click Download.

Wait for the downloads to complete.

  1. On the Install page, select the hotfix update and click Install.

Note:

You must install the hotfix update before you install the MP1 update.

  1. After the hotfix update is installed, select the v6.6 MP1 update and click Install.
  2. Verify the status of the updates. For a successful installation, the status of the update is Installed.

 

Step 5: Upgrading the DCS SVA in vShield environment

  1. Delete previous version of DCS SVA from UMC v6.6 MP1:
    • Log on to the UMC v6.6 MP1 and go to Assets > Virtual Machine > VMware vCenter Server > DataCenter > Cluster.
    • Select the previous version of the DCS SVA and click Delete.
  2. Upload and register the DCS SVA v6.6 MP1 on the UMC v6.6 MP1:
    • In UMC, go to Settings > Integration.
    • In the Action column of the Security Virtual Appliance pane, click Upload New SVA.
    • In the Upload New SVA box, click Browse to go and select the SVA v6.6 MP1 file that you want to upload.
  3. Deploy the DCS SVA v6.6 MP1 in the vShield environment:
    • Navigate to Assets > Virtual Machine > VMware vCenter Server > Datacenter.
    • In the right pane, select a cluster or ESXi host, and click More > Deploy SVA.
    • Alternatively, you can also navigate to Assets > Virtual Machine VMware vCenter Server > Datacenter > Cluster, and select a ESXi host in the right pane, and click Deploy SVA.
    • In the Deploy/Update SVA to Cluster window, do the following:
      • Select the required datastore, network, and IP configuration.
      • Check the Enable auto deploy of SVA for selected clusters to enable auto deploy of SVA on all the selected clusters.
