Issue/Introduction

When creating a link to an external products database like SEP or DLP we get an error stating invalid provider.

Invalid provider unable to create link.

Environment

ITA 7.6 or 8.0

SMP 7.6 or 8.0

Cause

If sql has been upgraded it may have an older provider installed. SQLNCI10 was installed on the customer's machine.

Resolution

1. Log into the SQL server and open management studio. 
2. Make a connection to the Analysis service engine instance.
3. Navigate to the IT Analytics databases / Data Sources
4. Choose the ITAnalytics data source and open the properties
5. Modify the connection String field.
6. At the top of the Connection Manager window you should see the Provider used by the data source. Change the provider to a recognized version like SQLNCI11
7. Test connection if successful choose ok to save the settings.
