Issue/Introduction

The Simple Network Management Protocol allows a device to be identified by means of a unique EngineID.

The instructions below can be used to obtain the EngineID of a Symantec Encryption Management Server.

Resolution

In Symantec Encryption Management Server 3.4, access the server via SSH and execute:

# grep oldEngineID /var/lib/net-snmp/snmpd.conf

In earlier releases, execute:

# grep oldEngineID /var/net-snmp/snmpd.conf

The output will be similar to:

oldEngineID0x80001f8880f176435e89e4c252

The EngineID in this example is:

0x80001f8880f176435e89e4c252
