Fan failure alert on the Messaging Gateway 8340 appliance

Issue/Introduction

When hardware status alerts are enabled, Messaging Gateway (SMG) may send erroneous alerts regarding the fan status on 8340 appliances.

Environment

Messaging Gateway 10.6.1

Cause

There was a change in the hardware used for the 8340 appliances that cases the fan status check to return unexpected data which is interpreted as a failure state.

Resolution

This issue has been addressed with the Messaging Gateway 10.6.2 release.
