Issue/Introduction

Running Fast Load stand alone via Batch Processor, changing the Maxtasks from default 1, to a higher value will cause error: PFL0508E - Number of WORKDDN devices is less than index scans

What can cause Fast Load to fail with error: PFL0508E - Number of WORKDDN devices is less than index scans?

Environment

Db2 V10, 11, R18 AND R19

Resolution

Fast Load can fail with error: PFL0508E - Number of WORKDDN devices is less than index scans due to not enough WORKDDNs for the indexes. Adding additional WORKDDNs resolves the problem. However increasing MAXTASKS from 1(the default) to something greater than 1, will cause this error, reducing the MAXASKS to 1, will also resolve the error;  PFL0508E - Number of WORKDDN devices is less than index scans.
