Issue/Introduction

Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) states that the Disarm feature under Malware - Scan Settings - Disarm, supports 'Office 2003', 'Office 2007 and above', and 'PDF' Content Types. However, you would like to know what file formats this encompasses.

Resolution

At this time the SMG Disarm feature supports native Office file formats for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF. This would include the following:

Microsoft -

Word 2003 format (.doc)

Word 2007 and above format (.docx)

Excel 2003 format (.xls)

Excel 2007 and above format (.xlsx)

PowerPoint 2003 format (.ppt)

PowerPoint 2007 and above format (.pptx)

 

Adobe -

Portable Document Format (.pdf)
