Issue/Introduction

During install of Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (SMSMSE), the Symantec Mail Security Utility Service fails to install with error code 1722 when the password supplied for the service account contains a semicolon (;).

Resolution

Symantec is aware of this issue and will update this article when a permenant solution is available.

 

Workaround

Change the password of the service account used for the SMSMSE service to no longer contain a semi-colon, the install will then continue beyond this error.
