Error when exporting agents to csv in the Control Compliance Suite Console 11.x

Issue/Introduction

When trying to export agents to a CSV file, in the CCS Console (Agent Management Tasks > Export Agents as CSV), there is an error:

"Error exporting agents to csv. Refer to the log file for error details"

Close inspection of the logs (AppServer service logs and SymConsole logs) show details similar to the following:

"Failed to export agents to csv. System.ServiceModel.FaultException: The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:objIn. The InnerException message was 'There was an error deserializing the object of type Symantec.DispatchProtocol.Common.DispatchObjectData. The maximum array length quota (92160) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxArrayLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader.'. Please see InnerException for more details."

Cause

This may be occur when a large amount of agents are being exported at once.
Perhaps exporting a smaller number of agents may be a workaround, otheriwise try increasing the maxArrayLength, maxReceivedMessageSize and  maxBufferSize values.

Resolution

Increase the the following values to 9999999:

  • maxArrayLength="92160"
  • maxBufferSize="153600"
  • maxReceivedMessageSize="153600">

...Under under the <netTcpBinding> section in AppserverService.exe.config, then restart the Application Server service.
