Issue/Introduction

This document states whether or not it's possible to access the Thread Terminator Log information from a file or register, to generate reports.

Is it possible to access the Thread Terminator Log information from a file or register, to generate reports?

Environment

z/OS 1.11 and above.

Resolution

The PTT Log is the only place that cancelled thread information is written to (unless the thread is cancelled using the PTTBATCH job. In that case, it's also written to the Thread Termination Report).

Possible workarounds:

1) A dataset (RECFM FB, LRECL= 154) can be allocated to the PTTLOG DD statement in the Xmanager JCL, to place the TT Log information in a dataset

2) Use the Sysview "X" command on the PTTLOG DD statement of your Xmanager, to copy the Sysview Xmanager Log information to a dataset
