Issue/Introduction

I have upgraded all my SpectroSERVERs in my distributed environment, from 10.1.1 to 10.2.1 without problems.

On the final server the upgrade exits and I find the following in the pre-install log at:

<$SPECROOT>/Install-Tools/LOGS/10.2.1.0.98_xxxx/preinst.xx.xx

sed: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/CA/Spectrum/lib/libpcre.so.1: file too short

Why does my upgrade exit with errors  "file too short " and "** Error: Unable to interpret installation command on this one server?

Environment

These errors are relevant for all versions of Spectrum on Linux.

Resolution

This error was seen as the upgrade was attempted with the wrong Operating System user.

All Spectrum upgrades must be made by the same user, as was used for the original installation.

This can be verified from

<$SPECROOT>/SS/.vnmrc

as "initial_user_model_name=<xxxxxx>"

Also all SpectroSERVERs and OneClick servers in the same distributed or fault tolerant system, must use the same install user.
