Issue/Introduction

Licenses deleted from the SEPM (Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager) are still recoverable. How may licenses be permanently deleted from the SEPM?

Cause

Deleted license remain in the SEPM database for up to a year, then are permanently removed by automatic database maintenance.

Resolution

To permanently (and immediately) delete licenses from the SEPM database, follow the steps:

1. Backup database before editing it directly!
    
2. Delete license(s) by using the SEPM console interface
    
3. Run the following SQL agains the SEPM database:
   UPDATE LICENSE_CHAIN SET TIME_STAMP=1388601320000 WHERE DELETED=1
    
4. At midnight, automatic SEPM database maintenance will permanently remove the deleted license
