System packages not removed after their respective solution is uninstalled following upgrade from 7.5 to 7.6.

Issue/Introduction

The following packages are not removed after the upgrade from SMP 7.5 SP1 HF5 to SMP 7.6:

• Antivirus Inventory Package component 1.0
• Intel SCS 5.5.0.3 - Software Package Resource 5.5.0.3
• Intel® SCS package 7.0.0
• OOB Site Server Configuration Package %product_version%
• OOS Site Server Inventory Package %product_version%
• OOB Site Service Agent - Software Package Resource 7.0.1051
• Out of Band Discovery Package 7.0.0
• Out of Band Task Plug-in Package 7.0.0
• Symantec Endpoint Protection Uninstall Management 1.0

The above packages do not synchronize to Package Servers after the upgrade to 7.6. The problem is most or all of them have attributes and item references that make them difficult to delete manually via the Management Console UI.

An example of an error seen in the NS operational logs:

Failed to get manifest for c72e1ab5-f300-4e8c-88ca-baf90b5b4e46: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'D:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\bin\Win64\x64\Symantec Endpoint Protection\AvInventory'.

Resolution

Attached to this document is a SQL script that can be used to purge these packages from the Symantec_CMDB. Please contact Support to get this script. Steps to implement the solution are as follows:

1. Perform backup of Symantec_CMDB or ensure a recent backup has been made
2. Run attached SQL query
3. Open "Windows Task Scheduler" and run the "NS.PackageRefresh" task 
4. Once the "NS.PackageRefresh" task has completed verify the packages are no longer present in the Management Console
   1. Navigate to "Manage>All Resources" in the Console
   2. Highlight "Resource Management>Organizational Views>Default>All Resources>Package" to verify the packages are no longer present
