Endpoint Encryption

You are trying to authenticate at Pre-Boot with a registered Smart Card with SEE 11.1 using an internal Alcor Micro Smart Card Reader. The reader fails to authenticate and gives an error, however you are able to authenticate using an external USB reader with the same Smart Card.

Incorrect authentication, try again.

Unknown root cause.

In Device Manager, expand Smart Card Readers and right click on the Alcor Micro Smart Card Reader. Navigate to the Advanced Setting tab and change the Reader Mode from ISO/IEC 7816 Mode to EMV Mode. Restart and you will be able to authenticate via the internal reader.

Note: This option will only be available in Device Manager if you have the Alcor Micro USB Smart Card Reader Driver installed. It will not be present with the default Windows driver. Please check your manufacturer's website for a compatible driver for your affected system(s).
