Symantec Endpoint Encryption version 11.1.0 Management Console receives an error on the "Communication" page while generating client installer packages. The error is received if using HTTPS to secure client communication traffic and TLS 1.0 is disabled.

Invalid Server Location. The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.

TLS 1.0 is necessary to create client packages.

Make sure that TLS 1.0 is not disabled on the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server.

  1. Open Registry (regedit.exe)
  2. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.0\Server"
  3. Make sure the value for "Enabled" is set to 1
  4. If it exists, make sure value for "DisableByDefault" is set to 0. (If it doesn't exists, it does not need to be added)

Note: If the TLS 1.0 key does not exist, it does not need to be created. If the key does exist, deleting the key will also enable TLS 1.0

Please contact Symantec Support if TLS 1.0 cannot be used in your environment.
