Issue/Introduction

The installed agent is reachable from Control Compliance Suite (CCS) Manager, getting ping response and IIS is installed however unable to collect data for that IIS Server Asset.

Unable to process bv-Control for Windows and Web Services query: The Slave Query Engine (Target_asset_name) has been requested to process a query for a bv-Control for Web Services datasource, however the Slave Query Engine computer does not have the necessary IIS Common Components installed: Scope (Target_asset_name) cannot be processed. - The operating system is not presently configured to run this application.

Cause

Missing the IIS Management Scripts and Tools component- WMI provider for Web Server.

Resolution

• To report on IIS Web servers, the BV-Control for Windows snap-in requires the need to install the WMI provider - IIS Management Scripts and Tools on target computers.
• To install the WMI provider, select the IIS Management Scripts and Tools component in Management Tools (or Web Management Tools) it may vary depends upon the Windows OS Version.
• To enable the required IIS components on Windows 7, see the instructions below :
  1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off.
  2. Expand the Internet Information Services feature.
  3. Verify that the IIS components listed below are turned on. If this component is not enabled, after enabling the required IIS components, click Next > Install.

• To enable the required IIS components on Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, see the instructions below :
  1. Click Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager.
  2. On the left panel of the Server Manager dialog box, click Roles.
  3. If IIS has not been enabled, click Add Roles on the Roles Summary panel. Click Next and enable Web Server (IIS) in the list. Then, click Next and select Role Services in the left panel.
  4. If IIS is already enabled, but not all required components have been enabled, click Add Role Services in the Web Server (IIS) panel on the right.
  5. On the Select Role Services dialog box, verify that the web server components listed below are enabled.
  6. After enabling the required IIS components, click Next > Install.
  7. Web server components - Management Tools -> IIS Management Scripts and Tools
• To enable the required IIS components on Windows Server 2012/2012 R2, see the instructions below:
  1. Open Server Manager and click Manage > Add Roles and Features. Click Next.
  2. Select Role-based or feature-based installation and click Next.
  3. Select the appropriate server. The local server is selected by default. Click Next.
  4. Enable Web Server (IIS) and click Next. 
  5. No additional features are necessary to install the Web Adaptor, so click Next.
  6. On the Web Server Role (IIS) dialog box, click Next.
  7. On the Select role services dialog box, verify that the web server component listed below are enabled. Click Next. 
  8. Verify that your settings are correct and click Install.
  9. When the installation completes, click Close to exit the wizard
