Issue/Introduction

After restarting the ssl proxy component of Symantec Web Gateway (SWG), Internet Explorer 8 browsers receive certificate errors until SWG receives the next database update from Symantec.

Conditions

  • SWG5.2.2
  • IE8 client browser

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The root certificate could not be found locally.
Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or
intercept any data you send to the server.

We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to the website.

Continue to this website (not recommended).

Cause

During ssl proxy initialization, a reload of the CA stores occurs. However, only the IE CA store is loaded.
The certificates required for this website is present only as part of the Firefox CA store which is not loaded
during proxy initialization leading to the user seeing a certificate error page when trying to access the
website.

Resolution

Symantec is committed to resolving this issue in a forthcoming build.
