How can a user manually set their password when the user is not receiving the password reset email?

Only a subscription administrator can manually update a user's password in the event that a user cannot login to Rally. In order to do so, email functionality within the subscription needs to be turned off

CAUTION: If your subscription is set up to use SSO, usernames and email addresses may be automatically updated if a user logs in via SSO while email functionality is disabled.

*Please note that this turns off ALL email functionality and will also affect any notifications coming from Rally.*

To turn off email functionality:

  1. Click the Setup icon in the upper right corner
  2. Select the Subscription Tab
  3. Click the Actions button
  4. Select Edit Subscription
  5. In the Edit window, deselect the email functionality
  6. Click Save and Close
  7. Sign out of Rally
  8. Log back in to see the change

Once email functionality is disabled, the user's password can be manually set by the subscription administrator:

  1. Click the Setup icon in the upper right corner
  2. Select the Users Tab
  3. Find and Edit the user's profile; edit by clicking on the gear icon and selecting edit
  4. Manually enter user's temporary password
  5. Click Save and Close
  6. Share the password with the user

**Once completed, be sure to re-enable email functionality at the Subscription level!**

Now the user can log in using the temporary password provided by their subscription administrator and can edit their profile/settings  and reset their password once logged into Rally.

While email functionality is disabled, notification rule emails are not initiated but are visible on the My Notifications app.
