Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition install fails with error 0xc000001d on older systems

Issue/Introduction

When installing Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) Small Business Edition (SBE) on an older system such as Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP, the installation fails with the error code 0xc000001d.  SymantecExtractor.exe may also have an application error.

Error message on XP SP3

The Setup Wizard could not install all the selected components. If the problem persists, please contact Symantec.cloud customer support. and quote reference number XXXXXXX.

Cause

The system is using an older processor that does not support SSE2 CPU instructions. SEP SBE requires SSE2 compatibility to run.

 

Resolution

System requirements must be met for the SEP SBE installation to complete.
