Endpoint Protection

Issue/Introduction

Windows Security Center (WSC) reports Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) is off however SEP is functioning normally.  After two minutes WSC reports SEP is on.

WSC reports SEP is off.

Cause

SEP executes a task at startup and on schedule to notify WSC of its status. Under certain conditions the SEP WSC task may be delayed.  If WSC is not notified by SEP of its status WSC may conclude SEP is off. If the task is delayed for 2 minutes the task will be scheduled for immediate execution.

Resolution

The SEP WSC task should not be delayed more than 2 minutes and WSC should update to report SEP is on shortly after the task is run.  If the WSC reports SEP as off for a longer period of time contact Symantec support for assistance.
