Tip 1: Before you upgrade, it's a good idea to take a backup of your current/existing SQL database for SEE Management Server. Do this with the typical steps you would use to backup any MS SQL Database.
Tip 2: Once the database has been backed up, it is also a good idea to take a snapshot of the Windows Server you will be upgrading SEE Management Server on.
Tip 3: Once a snapshot and database backup have been made, open the SEEMS Configuration Manager from the Start menu. Take screenshots of each of the configuration pages so that you can use them as a reference during the SEE Management Server installation. These pages include the following:
*Database
*Web Server
*Active Directory (Not needed if you are using SEE Native Policy)
*Server Roles
Tip 4: Once you have taken screenshots, and you are ready to do the upgrade, make sure you have an administrator account that has at least local admin permissions.
Tip 5: There will be a page during the installation where you will enter the Database account for the upgrade. This account needs to be at least DB Owner of the SEE Management Server. SA Permissions will also work, but is not needed.
Once the installation of the upgrade has completed, the SEEMS Configuration Manager Wizard will open, where you will configure each of the pages, and finally finish. Once this is finished, the server installation upgrade is complete.
Troubleshooting:
If, after an upgrade you receive the following error message, this usually means you have multiple SEE Management Servers and you haven't upgraded the server you are currently logged in as:
To solve this, close all your Windows to SEE Management Server and then upgrade the SEE Management Server with the installation .msi. Once you are finished, you can then open the SEE applications. .
