To install the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client for Mac, you use the Client Deployment Wizard's Remote Push option to discover Mac computers. However, during a browse of the network, computers that run a Linux-based operating system appear on the list, and you want to know why.
The Client Deployment Wizard uses Bonjour to browse the network for available Macs. Linux computers that run the Avahi daemon are also detected and displayed, because this daemon also uses Bonjour.
To prevent the Linux computers from appearing in the Browse Network pane, you can temporarily disable the Avahi daemon. Otherwise, disregard any Linux computers that appear.
Note: You cannot deploy a Symantec Endpoint Protection client to Linux computers with Remote Push.
