Issue/Introduction

Requirement is to setup the Helpdesk for Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11.0 Upwards

Resolution

To install the SEE Helpdesk component on one of the Client machines ( win 7/Win 8/Win 8.1)
Helpdesk is a console that is used by support engineers in any organization to achieve one of the following results.

  • Help Desk Recovery
  • Legacy OTP Recovery-Online
  • Legacy OTP Recovery-Offline
  • Mac Personal Recovery key program

In order you achieve this follow the steps as below

  • On the Windows 7/8/8.1 Machine go to the Server Installers ( Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11.0 ) - Zip folder
  • Extract the contents to a location locally
  • Double click on SEE Management Agent x64 ( depending on the OS version )
  • Ensure you select the Option for SEE server
  • Browse to the right Database Instance
  • Use Windows Authentication to proceed with the Installation
  • Once this is done move to the next installer
  • Double click on SEE helpdesk x64
  • Finish the installation


On the server Side:- ( SEEMS )

  • Open the SEEMS configuration manager
  • Under Server Roles:-
  • Turn on the "Manage Server Roles"
  • Add the user ( help desk )
  • Assign the Help desk Permission to the same user
  • Click on Save

Now upon the Next reboot this user should be able to open the SEE management Console on his/her Windows Machine

** In case if any issues arise on the Database Access ( Errors which relate to this USER not able to access the DB ) , please ensure you add this user to the SQL Database "logins" and give the Role membership of DB_reader and DB_writer
