Issue/Introduction
Running install readiness checks fails to run the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 IRC
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable is required for the use of multiple Symantec Solutions.
Cause
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x64 9.0.30729.6161 is required for Network Discovery to be installed when upgrading to 7.6
Resolution
Download and install the appropriate redistributable package. It has been attached to TECH230692.
If it's installed and the IRC still fails you will need to manually see what is in the registry. The IRC checks the following:
1. Opens HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\67D6ECF5CD5FBA732B8B22BAC8DE1B4D\DisplayName
2. Compares the value in DisplayName with the following the string: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x64 9.0.30729.6161
3. If this value is there the IRC should should complete.
