Cause
The legacy definition sets used by older versions of SMSMSE have exceeded the threshold LiveUpdate allows, which results in a LiveUpdate failure with error code LU6013.
Resolution
We encourage those that can to upgrade to Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange 7.5. For those that cannot move to Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange 7.5, change the following entries in the settings.liveupdate: PREFERENCES\MAX_PACKAGE_SIZE=734003200 PREFERENCES\MAX_PACKAGE_CONTENTS_SIZE=734003200
Simply add a 1 in front of those two numbers so they read: PREFERENCES\MAX_PACKAGE_SIZE=1734003200 PREFERENCES\MAX_PACKAGE_CONTENTS_SIZE=1734003200
*If those lines do not exist you will need to add them.
**You will need to copy the settings.liveupdate file to another location in order to edit and save it. You can edit the file with a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++. Once edited, be sure it is named settings.liveupdate exactly (not settings.liveupdate.txt) and copy it back to the original location. This file is read only and will not allow editing in place.
The settings.liveupdate is located in the following paths:
*Server 2008 and 2012:
C:\ProgramData\Symantec\LiveUpdate
*Server 2003:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate
